Signature Symphony at 91Ӱ�� has thrilled and inspired audiences for more than three decades with the annual 4th of the 3rd concert. The patriotic-themed evening is a family-friendly event and honors the men and women of our armed forces, both past and present.

This year the evening brings the Lights of Broadway to Tulsa with Jim Stephenson’s Tribute to Louis Armstrong, by Signature Symphony Trumpeter Stephen Goforth. Following the star studded salute to the Big Apple, the evening’s performance concludes with a moving tribute of “God Bless America” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Additional performances include solo pianist Suzi Meredith-Orr as she performs Richard Addinsell’s “Warsaw Concerto” and the Signature Chorale.

“4th on the 3rd is a long-standing Tulsa tradition using music to bridge generations and bring families together,” said Signature Symphony Artistic Director and Conductor Andrés Franco. “It is fitting that the maestro who started the musical tradition in this community, Dr. Barry Epperley, will conduct this concert that celebrates our remarkable journey for freedom.”

For 20 years, the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education has been home to this American celebration when the Signature Symphony became 91Ӱ��’s orchestra-in-residence. The roots of the Tulsa tradition date back to 1981 when the Tulsa Parks and Recreation Department asked the symphony, then called the Tulsa Little Symphony, to create a special Fourth of July presentation at Mohawk Park.
